Nursery and Primary Education

Mission Statement

To monitor, facilitate, advise on and promote best practices in the effective management and administration of schools, to evaluate management and administrative practices and to enhance the educational leadership capacity of school managers in an era of reform and change.

STAFF

The Section is staffed by the following persons:

  • 1 Senior Education Officer,
  • 4 Education Officers,
  • 1 Executive Officer,
  • 1 Administrative Officer II,
  • 1 Clerk-Typist.
 

The Nursery and Primary Schools (N&P Section’s) main task is to facilitate the efficient monitoring and regulating of schools to ensure their effective functioning.

The Nursery and Primary Schools (N & P) Section has responsibility for:

School Statistics

Currently, there are sixty-eight (68) public primary schools, twelve (12) public nursery schools, one (1) Infants School and four (4) public special schools. Special Needs Education is also provided at four (4) Special Units within the primary schools.

Additionally, thirty-six (36) private nursery and primary schools are registered with the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training.
