Barbados Welcome Stamp Programme

Overview

The Barbados Welcome Stamp Programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport. School-aged children who have been approved under the Barbados Welcome Stamp Programme do not require a separate Student Visa application.

Once the Immigration Department has issued the Welcome Stamp to the family, the Student Visa should be placed in the passport of the school-aged child. This Student Visa then gives permission for the parent to start the school enrollment process.

Parents have the option to:

  • Enroll in a Private school directly
  • Select a Public school and make the request to the Ministry of Education
  • Home School

It must be stressed that there is no space in the public special schools and limited space in several public secondary schools.

School Application Process

Families applying for the Barbados Welcome Stamp Programme are to complete a C5 Form.

Once the C5- Family Visa Form is approved by the Immigration Department the child’s passport is stamped with a Student Visa.

The parent/guardian then selects school(s) of choice (public and private schools listed on METVT website)

If a private school is selected parent/guardian contacts the school directly for the registration process

School performs their due diligence (copy of report/transcript etc)

If a public school is selected the parent/guardian completes a School Request Form.

There are 3 different School Request Form dependent on the age of the child. The forms are completed online and when submitted goes directly to the Ministry.
School Request Forms: Nursery, Primary, Secondary

Queries may also be sent to schoolrequest@mes.gov.bb

The METVT will allocate the child dependent on space availability and inform parent/guardian within 5 days

After the child has been accepted at a school the parent/guardian will then complete the School Welcome Visa Registration Form (SWVRF). Forms have been digitized for ease of completion and submission.

The school will get a copy of the form and copies sent to the Immigration Department for their records.

The parent will adhere to the rules of the schools as it relates to other fees.
