The Human Resources Department comprises the Personnel Section and the Records Management Unit.
The Records Management Unit must ensure the timely and accurate filing of all correspondence, and the proper routing and retrieval of files.
The Personnel Section has responsibility for coordinating all activities related to personnel matters for clients and stake holders. Specifically, these include all Ministry teaching and non-teaching staff, this comprises public and private, secondary, primary and nursery schools. Also, State Owned Enterprises (SOE’S), that is, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic Institute, Barbados Community College, Barbados Vocational Training Board and students enrolled at these institutions. The HR Department also corresponds with all Public Service Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
The activities executed by the Human Resource Department include:
Recruitment and selection
Processing various categories of leave applications
Disciplinary matters
Training and development
Facilitating payment of staff
Directing all incoming calls accurately
Preparation and submission of applications for retiring awards
Advising employees and customers on matters retaled to the activities listed above
