Planning, Research and International Relations

Overview

The Planning, Research & International Relations Unit has responsibility for the provision of information to inform educational policy and to determine and recommend appropriate strategies to solve problems in the education system through Research, the use of Statistics and Educational and Economic Planning. The functions of this unit include, short-term, medium-term and long-term planning, collection of education data and statistics, preparation of project briefs and proposals for funding, feasibility studies, along with project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and the preparation of Cabinet Papers and policy briefs.

Our Services

The Planning, Research & International Relations Unit processes and facilitates requests for information from local educational institutions, external educational institutions, external international institutions and agencies, and the general public. Additionally, members of the public and researchers from various institutions can access information stored in the department.

Our Staff

The Planning, Research and International Relations Unit is a component of the Planning and Development Division which is headed by a Deputy Chief Education Officer. The Deputy Chief Education Officer is assisted by a Senior Education Officer who is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the unit. Several technical officers and administrative personnel assist the Senior Education Officer in achieving the unit’s goals. These officers include:

Give Back Barbados

The GIVE BACK programme has been envisaged as a national campaign that is wider that education. The aim is to create a national movement for Barbadians to find ways to give back service to their communities and country.

The National Give Back programme aims to instill a sense of responsibility in its citizens to contribute to the development of the country through civic responsibility and volunteer service to communities.
Its goal is to help shape the nation through service and an appreciation and love for country.
